About the Hamro Forex Trading Journal

A trading journal is a record of every trade you take, together with the reason you took it and how it turned out. Most traders who improve do so by reviewing their own results, not by finding a new indicator. The Hamro Forex Trading Journal is free to use. You log each trade with a chart screenshot, and the dashboard turns your history into performance statistics. Your journal is private to your account, and your results are analysed in Nepal Time (NPT) so the numbers line up with your trading day.

What to record for every trade

  • The setup: the pair, direction, entry, stop loss and take profit, and the reason you entered.
  • A chart screenshot: capture the chart at entry so you can judge the decision later without hindsight.
  • The risk: how much of your account you risked. The risk calculator helps you size it consistently.
  • The result and your state of mind: profit or loss, and whether you followed your plan or broke it out of fear, greed or frustration.

The numbers that matter

  • Win rate: the percentage of trades that finish in profit. On its own it says little, because a trader who wins 40% of the time can still be profitable if winners are much larger than losers.
  • Profit factor: total profit from winning trades divided by total loss from losing trades. A value above 1 means you made more than you lost.
  • Equity curve: your account balance over time. A steady upward slope with shallow dips is more important than one large winning trade.
  • Risk to reward: the average size of winners compared with losers. Read more in our guide on risk-to-reward ratio and expectancy.

How to review your journal

Set aside time once a week. Look for patterns rather than single trades: do your losses cluster at a certain time of day, on a certain pair, or after a losing streak? If so, change one rule and measure the effect over the next 20 to 30 trades. If you notice that your worst trades come right after a loss, read our article on revenge trading and how to stop it. Traders working toward a funded account can also use the prop firm challenge calculator and the drawdown recovery calculator alongside the journal.

Getting started

Sign in with Google using the one-click login on the login page, then add your first trade. The journal is a record-keeping and education tool. It does not give trading signals or financial advice, and trading leveraged products can lose more than your deposit.
